Talking about my journey over the last few years is a daily occurrence with my members. I share my obstacles, my heart aches, my lessons, my goals and more importantly the reality of my life. Today I want to introduce you to one member that has had permanent impact on my journey.

I met Amanda 3 years ago when she became a client of mine. My very first impression of this woman was instant admiration. She was a strong, empowering and fearless gal. She would be the first to admit that she had no idea where life would lead her one day, but when she spoke of her goals it was with conviction and dedication. As time went on Amanda became a great friend and we are slowly becoming an empowering duo. Amanda has a brilliant perspective on life and is extremely passionate about self discovery.

Amanda Woodcock: Phase 6 Break the Bandwagon

It’s been a huge journey for me these past three years… and Nicole has been there every step of the way.

I’m a goals girl.

I always have #goals. I’m so lucky to have met Nicole at Goodlife and she became my personal trainer. Not only was she educated, well trained, knowledgeable, fun and kept things exciting at the gym, but she became a good friend. The beauty of this friendship is that we inspired each other. She kicked my butt in the gym and I would share my goals and endeavours.

2015

My goal was to get pregnant… As many women (and men) know, the journey of conceiving can be a rocky one. Eventually that summer, I decided I needed another “goal” to focus on with my body other than fertility… so Nicole and I started training for the spring 2016 bikini competition. By that fall, I was DAMN fit, y’all! Of course, I didn’t appreciate how rockin’ my body was at the time. What I did know was that I was doing workouts I would have never imagined! I felt STRONG and loved lifting heavy! But alas, the competition was not meant to be… because…

WE GOT PREGNANT!

2016

August 24th, 2016, I gave birth to the lovely Dorothy (we call her Dottie). I stayed active throughout my pregnancy – first with modified workouts, then just kept moving by walking/waddling daily. After Dottie’s birth, I started working out again in October.

 

It just wasn’t the same. 

It just wasn’t doing it for me. Working out a couple days a week was great, but I was tired. I was a new mom… I had aches and pains from breastfeeding all day/evening/night… and I was feeling lousy about being so WEAK compared to how badass I used to be. I was with yet another trainer at Goodlife as trainers were coming and going... The gym environment just wasn’t the same. It wasn’t fun like it used to be.

I missed Nicole!

2017

March, 2017 I decided to join Nicole and her Stay Inspired community.

I needed a cheerleader. I needed to be inspired!! I needed a fun supportive community! The best part of this program is that it’s not just about fitness and nutrition.

More importantly, it’s about WELLNESS – physical AND emotional wellness.

Since March, I have been #goals hardcore not only re. my weight and fitness, but just ME.

Who am I?

Who do I want to be?

What do I want to do?

Being a new mom meant re-jigging my identity… Not only did I become a Mumma, I became a wife in May and decided this summer I would not be returning to my social work job. Whoa!

Though Stay Inspired and Nicole helped me get fit after my pregnancy - more importantly, I was able to get on track with who I want to be. I’ve started reading, delving into my depths, learning, and growing. To hold myself accountable on this journey of self-discovery, I started a blog. It’s pretty terrifying putting yourself out there in a blog – let me tell ya! I’m still trying to get over feeling silly when I say to people, “I have a blog. I guess I’m a blogger?”

Being inspired by the Stay Inspired community also gave me the push to complete my Private Practice application as a clinical Social Worker. I’m so excited to see what the future will bring! I’m feeling more fulfilled as a mother, a partner, a friend, an intellectual and a clinical social worker than I have in a long time!

If only I could show you a “before and after” picture of my heart & soul… What a difference you would see!
